제목 A Study on the Structure of Hexadecylamine Intercalated into the Confined Space of Layered α-Zirconium Phosphate
초록 Highly-functionalized inorganic layered material, α-zirconium phosphate (α-Zrp) was prepared to study interlayer structure of hexadecylamine (HDA) in confined space of layered inorganics. Since the charge density, cationic exchange capacity (CEC), on the layer surface of synthetic α-Zrp was high enough to take all-trans conformers of intercalated HDA, its characteristic structures in Zrp interlayer (i.e., interdigitated layer or bilayer) were clearly obtained by monitoring d-spacing of host material, α-Zrp, based on the XRD.
As intercalated amount of HDA whose one endfunctional amine was tethered onto α-Zrp surface increases, its interlayer structure was changed from interdigitated layer to bilayer. The difference in thermal stability and phase transition temperature of both interdigitated layer and bilayer for intercalated HDA is investigated with TGA and DSC, respectively. The effect of solid-to-liquid phase transition of intercalated HDA on the structure of host material, α-Zrp, is also studied using XRD.
