A fabrication method of CaCO3 containing C-14 into a glass-ceramic form for final disposal |
초록 |
CaCO3 containing C-14 is generated from a treatment process of activated carbon wastes in a nuclear facility. The CaCO3 can be decomposed into CaO and CO2 gas at about 600 oC. It thus must be fabricated into a stable form below the temperature for final disposal. In this study, a fabrication test of CaCO3 into a waste form was conducted using a low melting temperature glass material. The CaCO3 was fabricated into a glass-ceramic form below the temperature. The glass-ceramic form had a reasonable density, and it showed homogeneous distributions in a micro area. It also easily met the acceptance criteria of the repository (3.44 MPa). It was confirmed that it was chemically durable through leaching tests (PCT, ANS 16.1). |
