Surface treatment is performed on titanium-based biomaterials to enhance cell-material interaction by deposition of graphene oxide. We synthesized graphene oxide with hydrophobic, superhydrophobic and hydrophilic properties. Biocompatibility of graphene oxide-deposited on titanium is evaluated by MTT assay to demonstrate cytotoxicity and Alizarin Red S staining to compare cell differentiation. Before the deposition of graphene oxide, we did some atmospheric plasma treatment without carbon source, to remove any contaminants. In Raman spectroscopy both graphene and graphene oxide are differentiated by peaks positions. In vitro test, MTT assay and Alizarin Red S staining, graphene oxide layer didn’t show cytotoxicity but enhancing osteoblast cell differentiation. |
