Secondary Structural Effectto 3D-Chondrocytes-Culture in Thermosensitive PA-PLX-PA Hydrogel |

Cartilage is one of the expectative targets for tissue engineering, because not only cartilage has limitation for self-repair but also activities of chondrocytes are maintained when they are placed in the proper three-dimensional environment. Chondrocytes are well-known that they would be cultured in 3D condition to enhance the synthesis of extracellular matrix such as GAG and type II collagen, which is an important function of chondrocytes and plays significant roles in regulating the chondrocyte phenotype. Stimuli, such as pH, specific ions, or ionic strenth, responsive hydrogel systems based on beta-sheet showed a number of applications for 3D cell culture. In this study, chondrocytes were cultured in temperature-responsive PA-PLX-PA hydrogels to see the secondary structural effect on chondrocytes. The secondary structures of PA-PLX-PA hydrogels were regulated by varying L-Ala/DL-Ala ratio. |
