Galla Rhois is a nest of parasitic bug, Mellaphis chinensis Bell, in Rhus chinensis Mill. Galla Rhois has been used for the therapy of diarrhea, peptic ulcer, hemauria, etc., that showed various antioxidative activity, and other biological properties. We studied the effect of Galla Rhois ethanol extract. Galla Rhois was extracted with ethanol and then proceeded solvent extraction with n-hexane, ethyl acetate (EA), and butanol (BuOH). Crude extract and solvent fractions along withcontrol standards were measured for their anti-oxidative activity using three different methods. Among different solvent fractions, ethyl acetate fraction showed the stronged antioxidant and antibacterial activity. Ethyl acetate extract was separated with column chromatography extract and to obtain active fractions. |
