Synthesis of mesoporous PtCu/C catalyst for oxygen reduction reaction by sputtering method |

Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFCs) are believed to be the promising candidate as the next generation power sources. One important issue for applying PEMFCs widespread is cost for fabrication of the membrane electrode assembly (MEA). and it is usually up to usage of PGM catalyst. In this research, mesoporous Pt-Cu alloy/C catalyst were synthesized with sputtering method to reduce usage of PGM. Various ratio of PtCux nanoparticle were prepared onto alpha-D-glucose which is used as a substrate by adjusting the power of the sputter gun. and it supported on carbon. Through the acid treatment, excess Cu was dissolved and finally can get mesoporous structured PtCu/C catalysts. It shows similar or higher oxygen reduction reaction activity than that of commercial Pt/C. |
