제목 Copolymerization and optical properties of PFCB polymers containing silicon for polymer waveguides
초록 Perfluorocyclobutyl (PFCB) polymers have emerged as promising materials for polymer waveguides, plastic optical fibers, and other optical applications due to good processability, low birefringence and high optical transparency. Several thermoplastic PFCB polymers by the free-radical mediated thermal cyclopolymerization have been reported. However, for the fabrication of waveguide devices, a cross-linked polymer system would be more desirable due to several advantages such as increased thermal stability, chemical resistance, and improved optical properties. We synthesized new cross-linkable PFCB polymers containing silicon, which could be copolymerized with various PFCB monomers. The structure of monomers and copolymers were identified by 1H-NMR and 19F-NMR. Effects of crosslinking on thermal and optical properties of the synthesized copolymers will be discussed.
