In this study, we have prepared multi-scale composites using a plasma treated single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs)/polyester nonwoven fabrics (PNFs)/epoxy for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. Through scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform-infrared vacuum spectrometer (FT-IR) analysis, it was found that the SWNTs surfaces were successfully modified by plasma treatment. The EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) of the composites was measured using an EMI shielding tester. The plasma-treated SWNTs, are shown to maximize the EMI-SE performance of the highly flexible multi-scale composites with highly dispersed conductive networks. The highest EMI-SE of the multi-scale composites was 45 dB for 4 wt% at 0.5 GHz. |
