In this study, the production of hydrocarbons from the C1 gases was conducted using a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma reactor with transition metal-based catalysts. Catalysts were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation of metallic aqueous solution. For the present investigation, the plasma-assisted catalytic hydrogenation and the conventional catalytic hydrogenation were examined at various temperatures, applied powers and feed flow rates. C1 gases can be converted into light hydrocarbons as well as methane under the DBD plasma condition. During reaction, Lissajous curves and voltage-current profiles of each test were measured and effluent gas was analysed by an online gas chromatograph. Fresh and spent catalysts were analysed by X-ray diffraction, physisorption, and thermogravimetric methods. |
