Epoxy containing polymer matrices have been incorporated in fabrication of conventional holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystals (HPDLCs) and the effects have been studied in terms of grating formation dynamics, morphology, diffraction efficiency, and electro-optical properties of the films. Epoxide groups should be more suitable to control the volume shrinkage due to their ring structure with bulky group. With the addition and increasing amount of the content and functionality of epoxy, the volume shrinkage was significantly decreased without affecting the electro-optical qualities of the HPDLC films. |
