Obtaining solid phase of high-density cyclodextrins(CyDs) may have useful potential application, such as molecular capturing membrane by using the cavity of CyDs. However, regular solid film or liquid phase of CyD has very limited processibility. Therefore, we synthesized high molecular cyclodextrins with additional functional groups and could construct nano-films of these CyDs and oppositely charged polyelectrolytes by layer-by-layer dip-coating process. The resulting CyD-containing nano-films might have different physical properties based on how they were assembled. We have modified various membranes with these nanofilms as active layers. The active layer coating renders the surface porosity, wetting property, and surface morphology of the supporting membrane. The filtering ability as well as protection of biofilm build-up were checked by filtration test of aqueous solution with various sized solutes including inorganic particles. |
