Recently, Carbon based nano materials such as carbon black, Graphene, Carbon nano tube have been attracted many reserchers for its supreme electrical, mechanical properties. For its electrical conductivity, graphene could act as a conductor, and also as an Electromagnetic Interferance(EMI) Sheiding material. In this study, a series of carbon nanotube (CNT) coated carbon fabrics was fabricated with dip coating process, and their thermal, electromagnetic, and mechanical performance was investigated. A solution of CNT oxide and sodium dodecyl sulfate in water was used in the coating process. CNTs were observed to coat the surfaces of carbon fibers and to fill the pores in the carbon fabric. Electrical conductivities of the composites were 0.625 W/mK. An EMI shielding effectiveness of 37 dB at 2000 MHz was achieved with a single layer of coated carbon fiber fabric, whereas the double layers resulted in 68 dB EMI SE at 2700 MHz. |
