As we know the alternating donor–acceptor (DA) system has been regarded as the most effective method for developing organic photovoltaic materials, since polymer band gaps could be easily controlled by inducing orbital overlap between donor and acceptor materials. However, the number of electron withdrawing materials is smaller compared to the number of electron-donating materials. Nevertheless, the electronic and chemical properties of electron withdrawing moieties are very important parameters for determining that of polymers in DA-type copolymers. Recently, arylene imides have become one of the most important and studied classes of n-type organic semiconductors due to their high electron affinity and charge transport properties. Herein, we report a donor/acceptor copolymer based on 2-Butyl-5,6-bis-decyloxy-4,7-di-thiophen-2-yl-isoindole-1,3-dione and thiophene units was synthesized by Stille coupling reaction and explored in bulk heterojunction (BHJ) solar cells. |
