Ionically stabilized micelle for drug delivery |

Nanomedicine field of drug targeting for cancer chemotherapy has attracted much attention not only in basic science but also in clinical medicine. Polymeric micelle is one of well-known candidates for a drug delivery carrier; however, polymeric micelle is limited in it’s application because of the concentration-dependent stability in vivo. In this study, we designed ionically stabilized polymeric micelle as drug carrier for overcoming the problem. The stabilized micelle formed from block copolymers that were composed of a hydrophobic poly(phenylalanine) block and a hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) block. Aspartic acid was introduced at the junction point of two block segments and multivalent metal cation was used for ionical stabilization of the micelle. The copolymer was successfully prepared and ionically stabilized micelle was stable at lower concentration than CMC. |
