Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is commonly used in building interior material due to its light-weight, rigidity, formability and insulation. Since the building regulation has been enforced gradually, EPS, which has good flame retardant and harmless, are mandatory to apply to the applications. Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and melamine were used as binder to add the flame retardant materials onto the surface of EPS. Also, expanded graphite (EG), Aluminium trihydroxide (ATH), melamine phosphate (MPP), ammonium phosphate (APP) and talc were used as the flame retardant material. The adhesion property of binders were calculated by weight loss and flame retardant were characterized by thermal gravity analysis (TGA). |
