Recently, it attracts public attention to tissue engineering by modulated non-viral gene delivery for improving the expression of a plasmid DNA. Scaffold, which is used for tissue engineering, can promote the surface area available for cell attachment and the subsequent proliferation and offer cellular-like environments to cells. Especially, Chitosan and gelatin have been used for scaffolds due to their excellent characteristics; low cost, large-scale availability, anti-microbial activity, biocompatibility, and promotion of cell adhesion and migration. In this experiment, we used chitosan-gelatin scaffolds and several non-viral gene carriers including bPEI and observed their gene expression pattern. From these results, it can be concluded that this system has a potential to be used for tissue engineering combined by gene delivery. |
