For bio-micro system, biofuel energies are highlighted because of their renewable and environmental-friendly properties. The low power density of biofuel cell has been the most important issue to be solved, which is arisen from limited interaction between active sites of enzyme and electrode surface. In present study, we have reported a highly versatile approach to enhance electron transport rate between enzymes and electrodes using nanostructured organometallic block copolymers. Glucose oxidase (GOx) is chosen for a model enzyme and cross-linkable ferrocene (Fc)-containing block copolymer have been employed as an electron mediator. The wiring of GOx within redox polymer networks is successfully achieved where current densities of the fabricated electrodes are found to be sensitive function of morphologies of redox polymers. The glucose sensing ability of the GOx entrapped redox polymer electrodes was also verified. |
