Here, I report a novel strategy to develop organic electronics using environmentally benign solvents based on colloid techniques. From such environmentally benign processes, for the first time we demonstrate high-mobility (>1 cm2/Vs) polymer semiconductors. These mobility values realized from ‘really green solvents’ exceed those of conventional hydrogenated amorphous silicon semiconductors. To achieve this, we: 1) fabricate stable sub-microparticles of conjugated polymers dispersed in green solvents, 2) develop an aldehyde-assisted surface tension-depression methodology to successfully form thin films from hydrophilic solvents, and 3) carefully characterize the structural information of sub-microparticles of semiconducting polymers. |
