제목 Water-triggered shape memory PGA-PEG based multiblock copolymers
초록 Water-triggered shape-memory polymers (SMPs) have been paid great attentions, especially for biomedical applications. In this study, multiblock copolymer consisting of polyglycolide (PGA) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) was synthesized by two steps. The first step of the synthesis consisted of ring opening polymerization of glycolide using PEG as a macroinitiator to produce hydroxy-terminated PGA-PEG-PGA triblock copolymers, which is followed by chain extension of these triblock copolymers using hexamethylene diisocyanate(HDI). Thermal and mechanical properties of the multiblock copolymer were characterized by DSC, DMA, and tensile testing. It was observed that the temporarily fixed sample can recover to its original shape by placing it in water, which is ascribed to the improved chain mobility of PEG block by selective absorption of water. The effects of molecular weight of each block of the copolymers on the thermal and mechanical properties and shape memory effects were examined.
