Fabrication of Laminated Polymer Composites Electrospun Mats Using Warm Pressing |

In this study, a method to fabricate laminated polymer composite (LaPC) was performed for the application of bone plate. A multilayered polymer composite was fabricated by electrospinning of polymer solution. Poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) were chosen to fabricate two types of LaPC. PMMA was dissolved in nitromethane, and disstiled water solubilized PVA. The mats were producted by electrospinning technique. The mats were warm-pressed to make the final solid form of the bone plate. The pressing temperatures were determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) technique of electrospun polymer. Tensile strengths of electrospun mats and LaPC were annalysized. Detailed morphology of electrospun mats and LaPC were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM). Bending strength of PVA and PMMA LaPC were performed by universal testing machine. Concurrently, MTT assays were performed tp evaluate the biocompatibility of the LaPCs. |
