Substituted siloxane polymers containing polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) units, CH3(OCH2CH2)8OH, in the side chains were synthesized for solid polymer electrolytes. These polymers were prepared by hydrosilylation reaction of poly(ethylhydrosiloxane) with various ratios of POSS and PEG8 units. In these new polymers, POSS units have roles to improve mechanical, thermal properties and dimensional stabilities as polymer electrolytes. Also the POSS units have been used to suppress crystallization of PEG. In this causes, the new polymers contained their ionic conductivity level, even though they have wax state at ambient temperature. The effects of variations in side group ratios of these new polymers were examined with TGA, DSC, and impedence measurement. |
