There is an increasing trend to implement Li+-selective solid electrolytes in rechargeable Li batteries, owing to their beneficial roles in improving both electrochemical performance and safety. To realize all-solid-state Li batteries (ASSLBs), it is thus necessary to develop robust and stable solid electrolyte materials as well as the controlled fabrication methods of the composite electrodes with enhanced structural integrity and optimized electronic/ionic conduction pathways. In this talk, the technical challenges facing the development of ASSLBs with ceramic electrolytes are first introduced with specific attention to their electrochemistry and materials. Then, the performance-determining factors of ASSBs are presented in terms of the interfacial and charge-transport impedances, which can provide an insight into the design and construction of advanced ASSLBs with high rate-capability and cyclability. |
