A series of amphiphilic comb-like poly(oxyethylene)s with sulfide linkages in the side chains were prepared for the drug delivery applications. Polymer analogous reactions were used for the preparations of the polymers using substitution reactions of poly(epichlorohydrin) with thiolate groups containing Brij®76, Brij®78, and mixtures of Brij®76 and poly(ethylene glycol) moieties. The sulfide linkages in the side chains were intentionally introduced to enhance the mucoadhesive properties and stability of particles. The chemical structures and morphologies of the polymers were analyzed using 1H NMR, DSC, Polarized Optical Microscopy (POM), XRD, etc. Critical micelle concentrations were measured by a Fluoroscence Spectrometer, and drug loading contents and entrapment efficiencies were investigated by a UV-Vis Spectrometer using indomethacin as a model drug. |
