Removal of heavy metal from industrial wastewaters by graphene/polyacrylamide composite particle in Dispersion Polymerization |

Rapid industrial developments have been taking its toll by increasing environmental pollution. The contamination of inland and surface waters caused by the release of the toxic chemicals can be dangerous to all classes of living organisms if discharged without proper treatment. In this study, novel materials for the removal of heavy metal in industrial wastewater have been investigated. Micron-sized graphene/PAm particles could be manufactured using dispersion polymerization and chemical reaction between amine group on PAm and carboxyl and glycidyl groups on graphene oxide which is manufactured in the process of the exfoliation of graphite. Then the heavy metal adsorption properties of graphene/PAm particles were also investigated to verify the possibility of wastewater treatment. |
