In general, the fuel cell performance is largely influenced by the interfacial characteristics between polymer electrolyte membrane and electrode as well as by the interface between binder polymer and catalyst. The interface is physically formed with MEA preparation and thus there should be a mutual contact of polymer electrolyte membrane with a polymer binder and catalyst in the electrode, and accordingly compatibility of the electrolyte membrane with the binder polymer influences the structure of the interface. The poorer compatibility may lead to a delamination of the interface, consequently a poor performance. In this study, a new approach of enhancing interfacial stability of polymer electrolyte membrane based fuel cell is attempted. |
