제목 Electrical Characterization of Thin Film Electrolytes for Protonic Ceramic Fuel Cells
초록 Although the protonic ceramic fuel cells (PCFCs) based on the proton conducting perovskites have been suggested to be a candidate for intermediate-temperature SOFCs that can be operated below 650C, there are many theoretical and practical issues to be addressed for the successful development. In order to increase sinterability and stability of the electrolyte layers, sintering with the Cu additive (BZYCu), dual-layer electrolytes (BZYCu-BCY), and the solid solution composition (BCZY) have been attempted. The electrochemical performance has been shown to be improved but the characteristics of the electrolytes are difficult to evaluate. The electrical behavior of the proton ceramic conductors involves the transport of multiple species of protons, oxide ions and electron (holes), and substantial grain boundary effects. To investigate the various thin-film proton conducting electrolytes impedance is monitored as a function of wide temperature range from 500K to 200K. The AC conductivity Arrhenius plots and series of admittance and capacitance Bode plots can directly indicate the electrical characteristics of the different electrolyte layers.
