Silver nanowires exhibit high electrical and thermal conductivity. From the view of this point, silver nanowires are one of the most suitable nanowire materials. For synthesis of controllable silver nanowires, the effects of ions (NaCl and KBr) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) molecular weight were investigated. Silver nanowires were synthesized by the polyol reduction method in ethylene glycol. To grow the silver nanowires, ions and PVP were employed as a controlling aspect ratio factor and a structure-directing agent, respectively. The aspect ratio of silver nanowires could be controlled by varying concentration of added ions and PVP molecular weight. The prepared samples were characterized by using TEM, SEM and UV-Vis spectroscopy. |
