제목 | Preparation and properties of polypropylene-layered silicate nanocomposites using the modification of clay with amino silanes |
초록 | Polymer–clay nanocomposites were a new class of materials which showed improved properties at very low loading levels compared with conventional filler composites.1 Among these improved properties were mechanical, dimensional, permeability, thermal stability and flame retardant enhancements with respect to the bulk polymer.2 In this work, polypropylene–clay nanocomposites were studied by the modification of clay with amino silanes3, and prepared by melt-blend using an internal mixer with polypropylene, clay modified by amino silanes and maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene (MAPP). At this point, we introduced the new covalent bonds between amino silanes and clay in the modifiction of clay with amino silanes, and between maleic anhydride grafted polypropyene (MAPP) and clay modified by amino silanes in the prepared nanocomposites. The change of population of the hydroxy groups on the clay was investigated by infrared spectrum (FT-IR). The dispersion effect of silicate layers in the PP matrix could be observed from X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The mechanical properties of resulting nanocomposites were measured as universal testing machine (UTM). 참고문헌 1. T. J.
