제목 Polypropylene nanocomposites by using modified PP and diamine
초록 To maximize their physical and mechanical properties, Recent studies on PP/clay nanocomposites have focused on the uniform dispersion of modified clay particles in polymer matrix.
Clay exfoliation has been pursued by the compounding of stearylammonium- exchanged montmorillonite (MMT), maleic anhydride-g-polypropylene (MAPP), and PP homopolymer with extrusion compounding. Attempts to fully exfoliate clay particles in PP have been fraught with many challenges because of the mismatch of surface property between clay and PP.
In this research, polypropylene / modified clay (diamine inserted cloisite 20A) nanocomposites were prepared by compounding Polybond series ( polypropylene –g-maleic anhydride ) with clay modified with hexamethylene diamine(HMDA) .
In XRD results , diamine inserted clay shows lager d-spacing than those of cloisite 20A and shifts toward lower angle.
Three types of maleated polypropylene-layered silicate nanocomposites with different dispersion states of layered silicate (aggregated, intercalated, and exfoliated states) are prepared from four kinds of polypropylenes with different molecular weights and PDI value, and three kinds of maleated polypropylene.
The relation between molecualr weight and maleic anhydride contents on mechanical
properties is investigated.
