제목 Interfacial Evaluation of Modified Jute and Hemp Fibers/Polypropylene (PP)-Maleic Anhydride Polypropylene Copolymers (PP-MAPP) Composites Using Micromechanical Test and Nondestructive Acoustic Emission
초록 The surface energies and acid-base interaction between the untreated and treated Jute or Hemp fibers and different matrix compositions of polypropylene-maleic anhydride polypropylene copolymers (PP-MAPP) were investigated by micromechanical tests combined with dynamic contact angle measurement. The contribution of the acid-base property into the interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of the natural fibers/matrix systems was characterized by calculating the work adhesion, Wa, coming from the acid-base interaction. This work studied the effect of alkaline, silane coupling agent on natural fibers, as well as MAPP contents in PP-MAPP matrixes. Microfailure modes of the different natural fibers/polypropylene systems were observed through optical microscope and acoustic emission.
