A novel method using high intensity ultrasonic extrusion process, instead of peroxide-aided reactive extrusion, was applied to modify a linear polypropylene to a branched structure and has intercalated structure of PP/Clay nanocomposite. To enhance and control the recombination reaction during sonication, multifunctional agent and antioxidant were used. From the rheological property measurements, it was confirmed that the modified polypropylene has long chain branched (LCB) structure. The ultrasonic extrusion using high intensity ultrasound was employed to enhance nano-scale dispersion during melt sonication of PP, MFA and organically modified clay. |
