Lignin is one of the most abundant natural polymers in the biosphere, and recently, it has received new attention as a renewable resource. Lignin possesses various inherent functionalities such as antimicrobial and biodegradable properties as well as good dispersing property for carbon nanotubes (CNTs). CNTs have attracted a great attention due to their exceptional properties including antimicrobial property, so they have been widely used as nanofillers. In this study, multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) incorporated lignin nanofibers were successfully prepared using electrospinning method, and were determined by SEM, TEM, and FT-IR. The mechanical properties of lignin nanofibers before and after the addition of MWNTs were then examined by conducting tensile test. Lignin nanofibers exhibiting lignin’s inherent functionalities were reported in the previous study, so we further investigated the effect of MWNTs on the antimicrobial property in accordance with various testing methods. |
