The large majority of living organisms in the world rely on air, and the quality of that air has a direct impact on human health. As a result of insufficient air exchange in confined spaces like homes, offices, schools, vehicles, and hospitals, air contaminants are of particular concern. MOFs is one of the emerging family of porous solid adsorbents with significant properties such as high porosity, large surface area and high chemical and thermal stability which made it favorable for several applications such as drug delivery, gas storage, biosensors. Electrospinning is the most versatile and widely used technique for producing polymer nanofibers from polymer solutions via electrostatic force. Electrospun fibers have been used successfully in a variety of fields, including adsorption, filtration, biomedical, and pharmaceutical etc. However, it is possible to immobilize the solid adsorbent particles such as AC, zeolites, and MOFs in and on fibers using electrospinning technique. In the present study, we prepared the polymer/MOF electrospun fiber mats with different wt% loadings of MOF particles and applied for PM filtration and VOCs adsorption. |
