Photocurrent Generation by Phospholipid-Assembled Conjugated Oligoelectrolytes |

The lipid-assemblies of native and artificial light-harvesting complexes onto electrodes have widely been investigated as subcomponents in electronic and optoelectronic devices to mimic the photosynthetic scheme in nature. Lots of biophotonic systems such as photosystem I or II, and rhodopsin proteins comprise of chromophores which are delicately arrayed in a way to achieve the nearly unity of the quantum yield. The highly efficient charge separation and energy transfer in the systems and across the membrane upon harvesting the sunlight energy have provided insight into device applications. In this study, we notice that CPEs can be an ideal candidate for molecular wires to enhance transmembrane electron transport across lipid bilayers. We present that phospholipid-assembled CPEs onto gold electrodes can generate photocurrent upon irradiation. |
