Novel negative type photosensitive polyimide(PSPI) precursors developable with aqueous alkaline solutions(TMAH) was synthesized, which can be used for interlayer insulation layer in liquid crystal display device. We had prepared a series of polyimide precursors from novel aromatic diamine with photofunctional coumarin moiety, which was synthesized from 3,5-dinitrobenzoyl chloride and 7-hydroxycoumarin followed by reduction with iron powder. In this study, we had investigated photosensitivity of the polyimide precursors without conventional photoinitiators. And, we will discuss general properties of photo-cured polyimides such as transmittance, dielectric constant, mechanical properties.
