Hydrolytic degradation of random copolymer based on poly(e-caprolactone) |

Poly(e-caprolactone) have been studied in the field of biomedical applications such as drug delivery, tissue engineering and so on. because of their biocompatibility,their biodegradability and economic advantage. Unfortunately, the semicrystalline polymer is also famous for a very slow degradation in comparison to a required time for most of biomedical usage such as them. This study is introducing the hydrolytic degradation of copolymer based on poly(e-caprolactone). The biodegradation was monitored by various tools such as water absorption, gel permeation chromatography, weight loss, nuclear magnetic spectroscopy and X-ray diffractometry. The faster degradation and the short induction period rather than that of the polymer with the more e-caprolactone unit suggest its better biomedical usage. |
