제목 Curing of polycarbosilane by electron beam irradiation
초록 Polycarbosilane(PCS) is widely used as precursor of high performance silicon carbide fiber(SiC). In the preparation of SiC fiber, the radiation curing of precursor PCS was the key technology. The effects of irradiation and environmental condition on the curing of polycarbosilane by electron beam irradiation were investigated. The PCS fiber was irradiated in Ar gas atmosphere by 10MeV electron beam(EB) from an EB accelerator using a special irradiation vessel installed in KAERI-ARTI. The dose was 10-104 kGy with a dose rate of around 1 kGy/s. The cooling system was used to cool down the PCS fiber from EB heating during irradiation. After irradiation, the PCS fiber was heat treated to eliminate to active species trapped in PCS.
