Conducting polymer nanostructures have a high surface-to-volume ratio as compared to their conventional bulk counterparts. Therefore, they have the capability of offering amplified sensitivity and real-time response as a result of enhanced interaction between the conducting polymers and the analytes.Various kinds of conducting polymers have been applied to sensor devices in order to detect diverse analytes such as toxic gases, volatile organic compounds, and biological species. We have also explored the fabrication of sensors based on various conducting polymer nanomaterials. In this presentation, we address the recent issues on conducting polymer nanomaterials in the sensor development and offer a prospect on scientific and technological challenges for sensor technology. |
