제목 | Blends of Polyamic acids for Alignment Films of Vertically Aligned LCD |
초록 | Polyimides have been widely used as a material for electro-optic devices on their own advantages such as excellent thermal property, good mechanical property and electrical property, etc.1 In this study, we have synthesized new hybrid films (BPIs) from blends of two polyamic acid solutions, which can be used for the liquid crystal alignment layer of vertically aligned liquid crystal display (VA LCD). The PAA-1 was synthesized from the functional diamine, 1-(3,5-diaminophenyl)-3-octadecyl-pyrrolidine-2,5-dione [DA-L-18IM] and cyclobutane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic dianhydride [CBDA] and the PAA-2 was prepared from the general aromatic amine, 4,4'-diamino-diphenylmethane [MDA] and cyclobutane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic dianhydride [CBDA] in NMP. Then, we have obtained the BPAAs with the change of contents of PAA-1 and PAA-2. As shown in Fig 1, we have investigated the electro-optic properties of LCD cell fabricated with the hybrid films (BPIs), which showed very high pretilt angle above 88°. At Fig 2, we have also investigated the surface properties of the hybrid films (BPIs) that were related with the pretilt angles. Futhermore, we have observed that the most of PAA-1 in the BPAAs have exited on surface of hybrid films, which induced the high pretilt angles. Fig. 1.
