제목 Blend of Poly(amic acid)s Based on an Alicyclic Dianhydride and Diamine containing Long Alkyl Side Chain for Alignment Films of Vertically Aligned LCD Device
초록 Polyimides have been widely used as a material for electro-optic devices on their own advantages, such as excellent thermal property, good mechanical property, and electrical property, etc. In this study, we have prepared block copolyamic acid (BL-PAA) and two kinds of polyamic acid blends (BPI-1, BPI-2). The BPI-1 was prepared from PAA-1 and PAA-2. PAA-1 was prepared from 5-(2,5-dioxotetrahydrofuryl)-3-methyl-3-cyclohexene-1,2- dicarboxylic anhydride [DOCDA] and 1-(3,5-diaminophenyl)-3-octadecyl-pyrrolidine-2,5-dione [DA-L-18IM]. PAA-2 was prepared 4,4'-diamino diphenyl methane [MDA] and cyclobutane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic dianhydride [CBDA]. BPI-2 was prepared from soluble polyimide and PAA-2. Soluble polyimide was prepared from DOCDA and DA-L-18IM. The BL-PAA was prepared by a block-co-polymerization of MDA, CBDA, DA-L-18IM and DOCDA in NMP. We have investigated surface properties of the polyimide films and the relationship of the pretilt angle with surface properties. LCD cells fabricated with the BPIs, which has octadecyl group-rich surface showed very high pretilt angle above 89°. On the other hand, BL-PAA showed relatively low pretilt angle below 30o. In addition we have investigated electro-optic properties of LCD cells fabricated with the BPIs and BL-PAA.
