Rubbing process may cause static charge, dust or scratches, which lower the production yield of LCDs. To solve this problems, photoalignment techniques using a linear polarized UV (LPUV) have been developed. In this study, we had synthesized the poly amic acids (PAA) from four different photosensitive diamine to compare the photosensitivity and the electro - optic properties as a LC photo alignment layer. Photosensitive diamines have a cinnamoyl derivative. The PAAs were synthesized from cyclobutane - 1,2,3,4 - tetracarboxylic dianhydride (CBDA) and 4,4- diaminodiphenylmethane (MDA) and photosensitive diamine in NMP respectively. We had investigated the photosensitivity using UV/vis spectroscopy. Also, we determined the electro-optic properties of LC cells that fabricated by the photo-aligned films, such as a voltage holding ratio (VHR), a residual direct voltage (RDC) and pretilt angle. Further, we will discuss a LC direction using FT-IR and optic system. |
