Sulfonic acid-based membranes gives the relatively high conductivity only in the presence of water, but phosphoric acid-based membranes present the relatively high proton conductivity without water because of its self-dissociation natures. We developed new type of nanocomposite membrane of sPEEK containing layered inorganic zirconium phosphophenyl phosphate (Zr3P) fillers. They have excellent capturing properties of water molecules due to layered structures, and have a phosphonic acid group to present high proton conductivity. We synthesized a cross-linkable sPEEK, after that Zr3P crystalline nano proton conductors were synthesized inside the membranes via the reaction of Zirconium propionate and 1,3,5-Benzenetriphosphonic acid that had been soaked prior. This novel membrane exhibited mechanically stronger and reduced its swelling by water, particularly improved proton conductivity of sPEEK under anhydrous condition at high temperatures ( > 100 ℃). |
