제목 Effect of Complexing Agents on the Performance of Double Metal Cyanide Catalysts for Producing Polyols
초록 Double metal cyanide (DMC) catalysts are well-known heterogeneous acid catalysts for the ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of propylene oxide (PO). Typically, a series of DMC catalysts were prepared by reacting aqueous zinc (II) chloride with aqueous potassium hexacyanocobaltate (III) in the presence of various complexing agents (CAs). In order to investigate the effect of CA on the ROP behaviors we have chosen various CAs with ester groups. The resulting DMC catalysts were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction and thermal analysis. The resultant polyols were analyzed by using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, FTIR and gel permeation chromatography. Poly(propylene oxide) polyols catalyzed by the DMC catalysts of this study showed ultra-low level of unsaturation (0.0020 - 0.0030 meq g-1), moderate molecular weight (Mn = 2500 – 4000 g mol-1), and narrow polydispersity index (1.06 - 1.08).
