PEM fuel cells are attractive power sources for providing clean energy. For powering these systems, H2 gas is used. In modern society, hydrogen is an important chemical material which is utilized in large amounts in synthetic chemical industries. For generating hydrogen, sodium borohydride is used with catalysts like Ru, Ni, etc. Ru catalyst is very expensive, so not economical. Cobalt is cheap, moreover the efficiency of Co catalyst is similar to Ru catalyst. Besides the efficiency of Co catalyst is superior to Nickel catalyst. So Co catalyst is ideal for generating hydrogen using Sodium borohydride.
