Engineering polymer poly(phenylene oxide) (PPO) has high thermal stability and excellent mechanical properties. Highly sulfonated PPO (sPPO) was synthesized according to post-sulfonation method which utilizes trimethylsilyl chlorosulfonated (TMSCS) as sulfonic agent. For the membrane, sPPO, tri- functional acrylate, bis-acryl amide and Irgacure184 as a initiator were combined into a solution and then cast into a film at 50℃. Obtained film was polymerized by UV or thermally for 3hours. Results of film formation and sPPO were investigated by 1H NMR spectroscopy and FT-IR. The membrane was studied by ion exchange capacity(IEC), water uptake, proton conductivity, and methanol permeability. |
