Effect of the functional groups of activated PEG on the tasar sericin-PEG bioconjugates |

PEGylation is a covalent attachment of poly(ethylene) glycol to the surface of a protein. This is a way of post-translational modifications which can change the structure, stability and performance of a protein. In recent years, PEGylated peptide and protein conjugates were approved as therapeutic agents and attempted to clinical trials. For using as bioactive materials in drug delivery field, we prepared silk sericin-PEG bioconjugates by reacting amine groups with two types of activated PEG in diverse conditions. After that, we examined the effect of activated PEG types on the properties of bioconjugates. |
