Ultra-thin layer of oligomeric polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), recovered from the bulk piece of elastomeric PDMS substrate, was used as a buffer layer in bulk heterojunction organic solar cells employing poly(3-hexyl) thiophene and phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (P3HT/PCBM) nanocomposite as an active layer. Simple , contact with the flat slab of PDMS elastomer, for 12 ~ 24hrs, transfers ultrathin layer of oligomeric PDMS onto the active layer. The well-known hydrophobic recovery of unreacted, small PDMS molecules from the bulk are responsible for the transfer-printing. The PDMS-printed devices showed enhanced (20~30%) photonconversion efficiency (PCE), when compared to devices without PDMS printing. The possible mechanism for this efficiency enhancement will be discussed. |
