Gold nanorods (AuNRs) have intensively studied in nanotechnology due to surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and photothermal effect upon irradiating near infrared region (NIR). However, there are some limitations of AuNRs including poor photothermal stability and disappearance of the NIR-SPR effect as a result of the morphological change by heat generation. Recently, excellent morphological stability of graphene oxide (GO) coated nanoparticles have been proved by various research. In this work, we prepared AuNRs wrapped by a thin layer of GO to improve their thermodynamic stability. We confirmed that graphene oxide/gold nanorod hybrid system has the potential for use in bio-application field. Their physicochemical properties, such as, morphologies, optical properties, and photothermal stabilities were determined. |
