제목 Thin Film Composite with hydrophilic substrate for Forward Osmosis membrane
초록 Nowadays, fresh water shortage is the most serious problem to sustainable development. Forward osmosis (FO) has been known as a promising technology for wastewater treatment, desalination, and power generation. This process depends on the osmotic pressure gradient across the semi-permeable membrane between the draw solution and the feed solution. In the present work, we fabricated thin-film composite (TFC) membrane for FO application. The membrane consisted of a polyamide active layer and hydrophilic porous support layer. Polyamide layer was formed by interfacial polymerization on top of a ethyl cellulose-graft-poly(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether (EC-g-PEG) support layer fabricated onto a thin (40 μm) polyester nonwoven fabric using phase inversion method. The TFC-FO membranes showed relatively high water flux and low reverse salt flux.
