Role of simvastatin loaded nanocellulose-gelatin-TCP hydrogel for enhanced bone regeneration. |

In this work we report the fabrication and detailed biocompatibility evaluation of simvastatin loaded nanocellulose-gelatin-tricalcium phosphate hydrogel scaffold. Nanocellulose-gelatin-TCP hydrogel was prepared by freeze-drying method and then it was loaded with different concentrations of simvastatin. Material characterization was provided by SEM, micro CT and FTIR. Detailed biocompatibility study was carried out by MTT, Cell proliferation, cell differentiation and implantation in rat skull for 4 and 8 weeks. In vitro biocompatibility and the amount of new bone formation was higher in simvastatin loaded nanocellulose-gelatin-TCP hydrogel scaffold. |
